Our Uncertain Future

Today I talk (rant) about where the internet is going, and how it's affecting the real world.

I wanted to try out the audio thing, even though the sound isn’t great due to me having just a cheap basic microphone, and my voice doesn’t sound as good as I wish it did. But I figure if it gives people a small amount of hope and some food for thought, then it wasn’t a bad idea. If enough people like it, I’ll consider doing it again in a more professional manner on another article.

Normally, I don’t cover current events or topics very much, but I feel like this is important enough to discuss. I really hope everyone understands what is really happening, and that things don’t have to be like this, the internet is a wonderful thing and everyone should be allowed to access it without giving up their data and privacy.

Especially when all that information being constantly gathered about you by whatever A.I. systems is only going to be used for nefarious deeds, though I need to be clear that while not every single rich/powerful person or company in the world is currently trying to do this, most are and more may follow in the coming years if we don’t push back hard enough.

I also wanted to add something important real quick, though this only applies to Washington state. In the video this guy goes into better detail about the new collector car rules in Washington state, along with some of the similar rules in other states, though I don’t agree with everything he says. I don’t think people have been “abusing” the rules as much as he thinks, especially since the state of Washington was originally supposed to only have $30 annual car tabs, that’s a whole different discussion though.

But I want to make one thing clear: Regardless of what state your in, whether the age has to be at least 25 years, 30 years, 11 years, or 40 years. If you don’t drive your car very much and it’s old enough to qualify for collector tabs in your state or country, you should be able to put collector tabs on it regardless of what vehicle it is. It doesn’t matter if it’s a 1966 Mustang, a 1992 Corolla, or a 1985 Dodge D250, you should have the choice to put classic tabs on that vehicle.

Even if someone tells you it’s not a “real” classic car, if it still fits in the age bracket all the same and it’s hardly used, people shouldn’t be turned away from having the choice just because their car doesn’t come to people’s mind when they think “classic car”. I’m not saying that you should or shouldn’t do it with your own car, I’m just saying that you should have the choice.
